  • Can I really learn Tai Chi from an online platform?

Yes! However, you may only learn to copy the movements or patterns of a form, a technique, a method, or an exercise. For this mind body art to be understood at a deeper level and to understand and realizes the benefits and gain a deeper understanding of the Art, it is recommended to attend class in person for instruction or private lessons.

What makes Self-Care Arts Online Tai Chi course different from other online course?

We allow online students who are enrolled to come into the school to ask questions, and refine their Tai Chi in person with the Instructor. We feel the student will gain a deeper understanding of the art with direct transmission from the instructor

What is the best way to use books, videos, and online Tai Chi training?

The books, videos, and online training are only supposed to serve as an adjunct to training or give an idea of the art when formal instructors are not available so you may train. It is always recommended to receive formal in person instruction to at least understand and learn the basic skills. There are many important elements that are necessary for the correct and complete development of Tai Chi. True understanding of Tai Chi simply cannot be placed in a book, put on a video, or posted on the Internet, no matter how much detail is provided. The most important and critical element that is missing when learning from books, videos, and online is the direct and personal guidance of an expert instructor. Without the watchful eye and personal direction of a qualified and experienced instructor, you as a student will not reach your full potential in learning Tai Chi Chuan.

In conclusion, we feel that its best to approach your study with a combination of remote learning resources as well as hands on instruction from qualified instructor.

Why do I need to learn or should learn the martial arts component for Tai Chi?

Without the Martial Arts component, you don’t have the entire art. You can not learn true Tai Chi without learning the martial aspects. Does this mean you need to learn how to fight, absolutely not! Its important to learn how the movements would be used so that the function will give you correct biomechanics, mental focus, and understanding of the movements in the form. The movements skill from the martial arts execution is exactly the same movement and energetic skill that you need to practice if you are doing it for healing self or others.
